Brighton Equipment Corporation Ltd.
Brighton Equipment Corporation Ltd. ("Brighton Equipment"), headquartered in Paramus, New Jersey, USA, was formed in 1981 and is majority owned by Mr. Kit Kung. Brighton Equipment is an importer into China and Greater Asia—and is now a leading designer and manufacturer—of large size hydraulic presses, machine tools and other related machining equipment needed to construct Generation 3 nuclear power bushings, other components for reactor vessels, steam generators and pressurizers, and large scale bushing for the petrochemical industry. Brighton Equipment has entered a Cooperation Agreement with China National Erzhong Group Co. to manufacture two 160 MN Hydraulic Bushing Forging Presses, for which it owns the patent. This machine is the only one currently capable of efficiently forging the 8.2 meter diameter steel bushings necessary for Generation 3 nuclear reactor vessels.
Schiess Brighton, headquartered in Mönchengladbach, Germany, was formed in 2005 when Mr. Kit Kung acquired the engineering assets of Schiess AG, and a leading group of its executives and engineers joined the new firm. Schiess AG was founded in 1866 in Düsseldorf, Germany, by Ernst Schiess. It grew to worldwide prominence in the machine tool manufacturing industry, best known for its innovative design of large, heavy-duty machines, including equipment integral to the manufacture of components for Generation 2 nuclear power plants. In 1997, a team of senior Schiess managers, including the chairman of the board, general managers and senior designers founded Schiess AG, Aschersleben, in the former East Germany. These executives joined Schiess Brighton in 2005. The company has since emerged as the preeminent design, fabrication and assembly company of ultra-large machine tools, including those necessary for Generation 3 nuclear power plant components.
Weihai Eastern Heavy Co. Ltd. ("Eastern Heavy") is located in Weihai City, Shandong Province, China. It is 25% owned by Schiess Brighton and 75% owned by Weihai Huadong Automation Co. Ltd ("HDCNC"), a Chinese Government supported enterprise. Eastern Heavy is a machining and fabrication facility for ultra large machine tools.
