Mission

To operate the most efficient and technically proficient manufacturing facility for casting, forging, machining, fabricating and finishing the large steel components required for nuclear and conventional power generation, for petrochemical and coal liquefaction pressure vessels, and for other heavy industry uses.

Chairman of the Board
Kit Kung
Mr. Kit Kung is the founder of the Brighton Group Companies, beginning more than 25 years ago with Brighton Equipment Corporation of New Jersey, an industrial engineering company specializing in Chinese and other Asia markets. Mr. Kung has built an extensive network of customers and business relationships throughout Asia. Mr. Kung graduated from Rutgers University, in New Jersey, with a BA degree in physics and is a citizen of the United States. Mr. Kung has been listed in Who's Who Worldwide since 1993, in recognition of his contribution to the business community, and in Outstanding Americans since 1994, in recognition of his contribution to the American business community.

June-Shic (Jesse) Park
Mr. Jesse Park joined Brighton Energy as a member of the Board of Directors in 2009. He has more than 30 years experience in corporate finance, project finance and investment banking. Mr. Park has worked in the international finance department of Hyundai International Incorporated (HII), the precursor of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. (Doosan). He has worked in Korea and the United States for First National Bank of Chicago, subsequently merged with JPMorgan Chase & Co. He worked for the Samsung Group and founded Hansol Merchant Bank as Managing Director. He also served as Special Advisor to the mayor of Pusan Metropolitan City for foreign investment and economic affaires. He graduated from Seoul National University with a B.A. in English literature and received a MBA from Yonsei Business School.

Dr. Kin-tim (Alec) Yu
Dr. Alec Yu, the president of Asia Operations for Brighton Equipment, has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry. Dr. Yu previously worked for Brighton Equipment as General Manager overseeing both Hong Kong and PRC operations. Dr. Yu graduated from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a Higher Diploma Major in Mathematics and Statistics, and from the University of South Australia with a MBA and DBA.

Dr. Michael Rosen
Dr. Michael Rosen received a Ph.D. in Organization Studies, a MBA and MA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a MS in Social Anthropology and BA from its School of Arts & Sciences. From 1983 until 1988 he was a professor in the Management Department of The Graduate School of Business Administration at New York University. From 1996 to 2001 he was CEO and President of Oscar Gruss & Son Incorporated, a member firm of the New York Stock Exchange. He is the recipient of the University Scholar award at the University of Pennsylvania, the Presidential Fellow award for outstanding faculty at New York University, the 2007 Christodora Spirit Award, and the 2010 Sara Curry Award.

Patrick Salisbury
Mr. Salisbury is an attorney with nearly thirty years experience in international commercial transactions in over ninety jurisdictions worldwide. He has practiced law in the United States, Europe and the Middle East, focusing on a wide variety of matters including acquisitions, joint ventures and contractual arrangements of all types. Mr. Salisbury now specializes in representing large privately held entities and ultra-high net worth individuals in a broad range of international matters. He resides in New York City but travels extensively in his business endeavors.

Ms. Melanie Wong
Ms. Melanie Wong joined Brighton Equipment in 1994, and in 2002 was promoted to General Manager, responsible for its Hong Kong based operations. In addition to her management role, Ms. Wong has served as Secretary of Brighton Equipment, Schiess Brighton and Brighton Energy, responsible for their financial and legal affairs. Ms. Wong received her undergraduate degree and a Master of Arts in Global Business Management from the City University of Hong Kong.

COO & Acting President
Tek Chin
Mr. Tek Chin is a professional with working experiences in technical, operation, managerial and executive roles in multi-national corporations. He was one of the operation startup leaders of Esso Singapore Refinery and Novacor Ethylene Plant in Canada. Since '95, Mr. Chin has been in China primarily as start-up executive helping foreign investors to build company from green field to a profitable and efficiently running business in a BOT role. 1989-1995, he served as Board member and Chairman of the Board of Lambton College, Canada. Mr. Chin received 3 national awards for the contribution of conservation of Canadian environment, and in 1993 was awarded by Canadian Government the 125th Canadian Anniversary Commemorative Citizen medal. In 1999, Mr. Chin was awarded 'Entrepreneur of Tianjin' by the Tianjin Government of China.

Managing Director & CTO
Heung Ki Kim
Mr. Heung Ki Kim majored in Metallurgical Engineering at Seoul National University, and for 38 years has played an important role in every facet of the melting, casting and forging industries. He has worked with HII and with Korea Heavy Industries & Construction (KHIC, currently Doosan), focusing on plant construction, procurement, engineering, production, technology transfer, cost control, QA and sales promotion. He has completed training courses with the Terni Steel Factory, in Italy, a division of ThyssenKrupp, and with Kobe Cast Iron, in Japan. As General Manager and Director of Doosan's Foundry & Forge Division, he managed the manufacture of generator rotor shafts, as well as LP and HP rotors for nuclear and thermal power plants, roll mill housings for steel mill projects, shell flanges for steam generators, reactor vessels, crank shafts, and so on. He has also worked in Doosan's London and Tokyo branches. Mr. Kim served as CEO of Hanjung DCM, merged with Doosan Infracore, and has shown achievement in the fabrication of petrochemical equipment, nuclear reactor vessels, cooling towers and heat exchangers. His leadership propelled Doosan into a Korean and international industry leader.

Director of Planning Office / Melting Division
Sang Yong Lee
Mr. Sang Yong Lee majored in Metallurgical Engineering at In Ha University, and began his career with INI Steel (currently Hyundai Steel Co), where he was in charge of electric arc furnace steel making, continuous casting and ingot making. He worked for KHIC for 12 years, covering melt Shop layout planning, shop construction, melting equipment and facilities procurement, erection and commissioning, and commercial production. He has completed training courses with the Terni Steel Factory, in Italy, a division of ThyssenKrupp, and ASEA Metallurgy in Sweden, a currently a division of Danieli Corporation, in the fields of steel making for power plant components of generator rotor shafts, HP & LP rotor shafts, reactor vessels, turbine casings, etc. He was project manager for the construction of a specialty steel bar manufacturing plant, as well as an iron & steel manufacturing plant at Dongbu Steel Co. and Halla Heavy Industries Co. Through his 37 years of working experience in heavy steel castings & forgings, and machinery manufacturing companies, he has gained extensive knowledge of fascilities planning, construction and management, as well as equipment sales. Previously, as Executive Managing Director, he was the plant manager and head of overseas Sales at Sung Chang E&C and Daesung Heavy Industries Co., a Korean manufacturer of steel manufacturing equipment, transportation facilities, power plant and other heavy steel components.

Director of Engineering
Ho San Kang
Mr. Ho San Kang majored in Metallurgical Engineering at Korea University. He started his career with Ilshin Steel, now Dongbu Steel, in 1975 where he rose to be responsible for the manufacturing, engineering and quality control of cold rolled steel sheets and steel pipes. He worked for KHIC for 23 years, primarily in manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance and control and R&D for forgings, castings and equipment for power plants (nuclear, thermal, hydro, combined and wind), industrial plants in various industries (cement, desalination, chemical and petrochemical, handling facilities, defense industry, etc.), ships, ship engines, and so on. Mr. Kang was involved in project and construction management for cement plants in Indonesia, and international sales of power plants and industrial plants. He has extensive experience working with engineers and inspectors from companies such as KEPCO, KOWACO, Westinghouse, GE, Bechtel and Alstom on various large scale projects in Korea, and with inspectors from international agencies such as INTECO, SGS, Moody's and shipping registers. He participated in obtaining ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Stamp certifications. He has completed training courses with the Terni Steel Factory, as well as with Sheffield Forgemasters. Before joining Brighton Energy (Hong Kong), he served as the Managing Director for Hyunjin Materials Company, a Korean forging company.

Director of Production
Soo Chul Kim
Mr. Soo Chul Kim majored in Metallurgical Engineering at Hanyang University. He joined KHIC in 1976, initially assigned to preparing the layout of forging shops, including such equipment, such as forging presses, heating furnaces, heat treatment furnaces and an electro slag re-melting furnace. He was trained in the Electro Slag Remelting process, for launching new re-melting equipment, at Consarc Corporation and National Forge Co., both in the United States. He has also trained at Terni for forging production engineering. He has been in charge of the production of forging parts and components for nuclear, thermal and hydro power plants, and back up rolls for steel plants, crankshafts for marine engines, and various other industrial products. In the late 1970s, he oversaw fabrication of a generator shaft forged from a 430 ton ingot, then the largest ever made. He was a team leader, while with Doosan, fabricating the forged shells of the reactor vessels for nuclear power plants. Before joining Brighton Energy (Hong Kong), he was a Managing Director for Pyungsan Metal Co., Ltd, a Korean forging company.

Director of R&D
Myung Hoe Koo
Mr. Myung Hoe Koo earned a BA and MA in Metallurgical Engineering at Seoul National University, and a PhD in Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He worked with POSCO Specialty Steel Co. for 30 years. He was responsible as R&D Group leader for developing such new products as heat resisting steels for electric power plants, heat resisting alloy forging disks for industrial gas turbine rotors and nickel alloy tubes for steam generating heat exchangers of nuclear power plants. As General Manager of Technology, Quality and R&D, he was responsible for improving product quality and reducing manufacturing costs through developing low cost melting methods, and establishing an ERP system for production and processing. As Managing Director, he managed the construction of a 100-ton ingot casting shop and a 9000 ton press shop from planning to completion and operation. The facility is successfully manufacturing 100-ton ingots and forging shafts. He was also responsible for technology, production, quality of specialty steel rolled bars, forgings, seamless tubes for automobiles, machinery, fossil and nuclear power plant, chemical plant, marine industry, and similar uses. He is experienced in benchmarking JSW, JCFC, Sanyo, Daido and Hitachi. He later worked as Executive Managing Director at UNISON Co., a Korean forging company equipped with a 6000-ton press and ring rolling mills, producing wind turbine system and similar products.

Chairman of the Advisory Board
Byung Chul Yoo
Mr. Byung Chul Yoo is recognized as the founder of the Korean forging industry. He led the forging shop of KHIC from inception through achieving recognition as one of the highest quality shops in the world. He was Managing Director of KHIC's Foundry & Forge Division. The South Korea government awarded Mr. Yoo the Steel Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in 1982, for his contribution to KHIC's Changwon Plant construction. After leaving KHIC, Mr. Yoo served as Vice President at Halla Engineering and Heavy Industries, Ltd., responsible for power plant, steel plant and environmental systems sales.

Goon-Cherl Park
Dr. Goon-Cherl Park is a Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Seoul National University, President of the Korea Nuclear Society, a Commissioner of the Korea Atomic Energy Commission, and President of the Regional Energy Research Institute in Korea. He received his Ph.D. from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1983, and his Master and Bachelor's degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Seoul National University. He has been a member of the Nuclear Safety Expert Committee in the Ministry of Science and Technology of Korea, a member of the Board of Directors of Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP), and President of the Korea Section of the American Nuclear Society.

Senior Advisor
Siegfried Grone
Mr. Siegried Grone is the Chief Designer for the Metal Forming Division of Brighton Equipment. Prior to joining Brighton Equipment, Mr. Grone held technical leadership positions, including Technical Director, for Thyssen Wagner Dortmund, and for 27 years thereafter at SMS Wagner, in where he was responsible for designing and manufacturing hydraulic presses, ring forming machinery, and so on. Mr. Grone is widely regarded as one of the world authorities in the fields of metal forming and forging, holding many patents in these fields. He graduated from the Technical University of Bochum, Germany, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Senior Advisor
Heinz Hintzen
Mr. Heinz Hintzen is the Vice Chairman of Schiess Brighton. He worked with Schiess AG, Dusseldorf, for almost 50 years, beginning in its engineering department. He went on to lead the Schiess technology and sales departments, and participated in almost all major projects over the course of a half century. With Schiess Brighton, advises a group of chief designers and chief project supervisors from the former Schiess AG, who together ensure that the design of contemporary Schiess Brighton machines adheres to the rigor and effectiveness of Schiess AG, Dusseldorf designs. Thirty years ago, during the Generation II nuclear power industry expansion, Mr. Hintzen was Schiess AG's Director of Sales. Schiess AG then supplied nearly 95% of the worldwide market of machine tools for the fabrication of nuclear power components. His clients included Western and Soviet Block countries. Mr. Hintzen knows how to machine each required component for the fabrication of nuclear reactors. Mr. Hintzen graduated from the Aachen University, in Germany, with a degree in mechanical engineering.
